Trauma Informed Care in Ireland is a multi-agency programme that provides training, resources and implementation supports for organisations committed to working.Develop a greater understanding of the impact of trauma both for the individual survivor, the family, and the community.Learn to apply the philosophy of trauma informed work.Therapists must have already completed the 16-hour Trauma-Informed Care training through either Sharon Sutton or Abigail Wengerd. Target Audience: This training is intended for practicing, Masters Level therapists with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience. Participants should be prepared to present a case in which they would like to apply the Trauma Model as well as discuss updates on their work with the case throughout the training series. Participants are expected to attend and are required to inform the facilitator if they will be absent. Case presentations will be scheduled and urgent needs addressed as they arise. The format for the consultations will be group discussion and support. Participants will draw upon their knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and receive intensive support/training with integrating them into their day-to-day work with children and adolescents. This is a five-day (20-hour) training, which will be combined with 24-hours of group supervision/consultation, designed to teach therapists how to apply the philosophy of trauma-informed work. Discuss the impact of vicarious traumatization and how to take care of yourself.Discuss ways to assist consumers who have experienced or witnessed interpersonal violence. Trauma-informed practice is a way of working that recognises the potential of people to heal despite traumatic experiences.Assess the impact of trauma on the family system.Examine how attachment and child development impact on the trauma survivor. ![]() ![]() Explain the complexities of short term and long term effects of experiencing single or multiple traumatic events.Discuss the history of trauma as a psychological field of study.Define trauma and what constitutes a traumatic event.This training will assist the professional utilizing an empowerment approach in order to provide the most effective help for the consumer/client.Įducational Objectives: Upon completion of this training participants will be able to: Participants will learn about the trauma model and the application within the service relationship. The GAINS Center offers a one-day training on trauma-informed responses for criminal justice professionals. This is a two day (12-hour) training, which will combine theory and experiential learning to assure a working understanding of Trauma Informed Systems. ![]()
